Hives!

My poor baby girl! So, last Friday, Ellie woke up with a rash all over her body and we went to the doctor where she was diagnosed with a viral rash and a mild double ear infection. They put her on Amoxicillin for 10 days for the ear infections. This is the second time she has taken Amoxicillin, the first time we didn't have any problems. Today is day 6 on the med and she woke up this morning with what I thought were some mosquito bites from our walk. After talking to Mrs. Bean, I decided to take her in. I also had to "tell" on myself that I gave her a peanut butter sandwich yesterday, but she has had that before, so I really don't think that is what is bothering her. They took her off the Amoxicillin, told me to hold off on the peanut butter, and to give her benadryl every 6 hours. Since I had already given Ellie her morning dose, the hives continued to spread throughout the day. Thank goodness it hasn't seemed to bother her too much and hopefully her sweet little body will look better tomorrow- but my heart was so sad seeing all these hives all over her.Ellie is incredibly busy these days climbing all over the furniture. Glad to see that the hives haven't slowed her down at all!

  2. Poor girl. From a mom with a child from allergies: sometimes, the reaction shows up the second time because the body recognizes it. At least that is the way I understood it. Hopefully, it is a fluke and she will be able to have her PB sandwiches soon. If not, there is something called sunflower seed butter (health food section) that tastes very similar, and my boys love it. Don't try the soy one, it is disgusting. Hope you are doing well.
