Ellie's first 10 months in review
I was on facebook the other day and saw that one of my friends had a blog. I started reading it and realized that her daughter, who is absolutely precious BTW, is about 2 months older than Ellie. It was so interesting to me to read it because my little one is just a few months behind hers and they totally reminded me of each other. She even looked so precious in her smocked dresses that it inspired me to put Ellie in hers more often than just Sunday School. It was so encouraging reading all that was going on with them and what all is coming in the next few months for us. Ellie is 10 months now and she is stringing sounds together and "talks" all the time. We practice words, but nothing too definite yet, except mama a bit. I have no idea if she knows what I am talking about when I point to the sky and say "bird" or tap her nose and say "baby's nose", but she looks around as if to amuse me. She is super active too, exploring the whole house, with or without mom, pushing her toys around. Her push cars are a blessing and a curse because they get her moving, but they have terrible turning radiuses, so I have to bend over all day and help direct. Ellie loves Puffs- and they crack me up how they have 25 calories for 73 of them- she sees the yellow canisters and her face lights up. Elle Belle absolutely loved her exersaucer when she was 5 or so months also, which I loved too. Then she transitioned to a jumperoo, which is the best invention ever for a 7-9 month old. She also has a music table that she was obsessed with for a period of time, but has moved on now- she still likes for it to constantly be playing music while she is playing, so she has to get up and hit the table over and over. She just got a baby doll that she loves to kiss- you know, the open mouth kisses, so sloppy, but so wonderful kisses. Ellie is just now becoming interested when we read books and she kisses random pages, but we read several times a day. She just crawls into my lap with a book and we get started. Ellie has 3 cousins ages 3 months,17 months and 19 months- and we will have 2 more kiddos by this Christmas. I loved how Ellie picked up on things her older cousins were doing. This weekend we are planning to get Ellie a new carseat. Bert put her in the car this past weekend with her winter clothes on- which makes her even bigger- and he decided we needed a bigger one ASAP. Yesterday we went and played at the park for the first time and I think she really liked the swing. She sat forward the whole time, no sitting back and enjoying the day. I think we might a a bit of a controling little one. We tried out the sand box and I tried not to force my opinions about sand on her, but she kept looking at her hands like, ick mommy, please can we wash it off. I completely understood. We went to playgroup today at the mall and by the end she was little Dora the explorer, getting further and further away from mom, but still within eye shot. What a cutie!
